MODELS & FRAMEWORKS

“All Models are flawed – Some Models are useful”.  It may be rather a sweeping statement but of course no model can fully represent the real thing.  On the other hand, think how useful a map can be as the “model” for finding your way home.

Some models provide a set of requirements for compliance and are usually referred to as “Standards” whilst others provide reference frameworks and can be interpreted more flexibly.

By far the most common quality related standards are those in the ISO series such as ISO9000 for Quality Management Systems. Other popular models include the Baldrige National Quality Program (USA) or European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model.

The use and application of these Models needs more than a few words on this site so please do make contact to discuss the support and guidance available.
